My Travelling Insights

Hello! My name is Christiana Baltodano and I am the middle sibling of three siblings. Right now, I am 16 years old and a junior in high school. I have been to so many amazing places so far and have had so many unique experiences that I am so grateful for.

Our most recent trip was our trip to New York City and Boston so I thought that I would share my insights and favorite moments from this trip. We have been to these cities before but I was very young so I really don't remember much. However, we decided to take another trip and it has been one of my favorite trips so far, so I am very glad we went.

Since I am used to the small-scale, familiar city where I live, the city scenery and vibe was so different but I loved it. We took many walks around at nighttime in the cold March air and bright city lights and I just felt so alive. We went to the Museum of Modern Art where we saw beautiful paintings, my favorites being the Monet waterlilies. Seeing beautiful churches like St. Patrick's Cathedral really took my breath away. We got to experience the St. Patrick's Day Parade which was a very new and cool thing to see. Also, we went to different burrows and it was interesting to see and compare the different vibes and people of each burrow.

One thing about this trip that made it so memorable for me was the food. I think that food is such an important part of travelling because it makes you feel present and allows you to feel the place instead of just seeing it. Pretty much everything we ate there was amazing. The bagels were so fresh and the pizza at Lucali in Brooklyn was easily the best pizza I've ever had because it was authentic and tasted amazing. I also had the best pancakes at the Golden Diner where it was very hard to get a seat inside.

A very unique part of this trip for me was our visit to West Point Military Academy where we got a tour and were able to see the commitment and dedication of the cadets attending school there. Everything there felt so formal and orderly. Our tour guide was an example of this as she spoke clearly and walked upright and in a disciplined way. It felt humbling to be there and see the determination and focus of the cadets.

We ended our trip in Boston where we explored historical towns and relaxed. Ultimately, this trip was full of so many unique experiences that had a big impact on me and made this trip an unforgettable one.
